Seeing and experiencing animals!

Dear visitors! Welcome to one of the most species-rich animal parks in Europe.

.

The animal park Bad Mergentheim impresses with over 70 species of animals on 35 hectares of land. Wire netting, cages and fences are hard to find here - almost every enclosure is built as a natural free-sight reserve with unobtrusive boundaries. One of our priorities is that animals are kept in a species-appropriate environment. As far as possible we use natural materials for the enclosures and set-ups and pay particular attention to the ecological agreeableness of each measure taken.

Opening hours

Summer
From mid-March to beginning of November 9-18 daily, last admission: 16:30

Winter
From beginning of November to mid-March on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays only, from 10:30am until dusk, last admission: 4pm.

En route with the park keepers

Accompany our park keepers on their feeding route through the park and observe the animals at their natural hunting behaviour. Raptors, fish otters, brown bears, lynxes, Europes largest wolf pack, beaver and wild cats are only a fraction of the animals that you can meet on the feeding tour. In between, draught horses, trek oxen, sheep dogs, goats and sheep will show what used to be everyday activity in rural towns in olden Germany.
The tour takes about 2 ½ hours and takes place twice a day.
Summertime: Mid-March - beginning of November 9:45am and 1:30pm
Wintertime: Beginning of November - mid-March, 10:40am and 1:30pm
Meeting place is at the mountain range by the entrance.
